The year 2025 was, in many ways, historic and successful for Calefa. Robust product development in both heat and steam production has laid a solid foundation for continued future growth.
AmbiSteam
Calefa has launched a steam heat pump solution that enables steam production from waste heat. Why choose the AmbiSteam solution over traditional steam production methods?
Release, AmbiSteam
The new AmbiSteam® solution offers a modular, turnkey system for producing process steam above 5 bar with exceptional energy efficiency and even completely emission-free operation. It is based on Calefa’s SteamLevel® heat pump, which enables industrial steam production from waste heat—among the first in Europe.

Over this summer, four Finnish energy companies shut down their combustion-based heating plants. In cities like Seinäjoki, Kankaanpää, and nearly all of Lahti, summer heat demand was met entirely through non-combustion methods — excluding the use of gas in small-scale facilities. In Loviisa, combustion units were also occasionally taken completely offline.

MinersLoop, a Finnish company operating in IT and energy sectors, is expanding the AmbiHeat® heat pump system by Calefa with an additional 2 MW of cooling capacity. The system, located next to the company’s data center and commissioned in summer 2024, will be increased by 2.5 MW in heating output — doubling the site’s district heating production.

The equity investment from Evli Private Capital, a part of the Finnish Evli group, strengthens the already diverse resources of Calefa and opens opportunities for achieving long-term goals.
AmbiHeat
Finnish energy provider KSS Energia and Calefa have agreed on the turnkey delivery of a 4 MW AmbiHeat heat pump plant. Utilizing excess heat from wastewater, the AmbiHeat facility will reduce CO2 emissions of heat production by 14,000 tons per year while also increasing the company’s capacity on the electricity markets.
Luokittelematon
Integrating the heat and electricity sectors can lead to significant cost benefits. Sector coupling is an increasing trend in Finnish energy and heat production, leading to more flexible energy networks.
AmbiHeat
A new AmbiHeat plant by Calefa has entered the construction phase at Neve Oy's wastewater treatment plant in Rovaniemi, Finland.

The energy system balancing data center of MinersLoop utilizes waste heat with a COP value of up to 5.
AmbiHeat
The data center generates waste heat, which will soon be converted into environmentally friendly district heating for Seinäjoki.

"We want to be a world leader in the sawmill industry, especially in terms of sustainability. The new heat pump technology supports our goal and the investment has a good payback period", says Antti Koulumies, Head of UPM Timber, explaining the new AmbiHeat heat pump system at the UPM Korkeakoski sawmill.

When there is surplus, it could be of use to someone else. Sharing economy of an industrial manufacturer and the local energy company reduces emissions and improves energy efficiency. The end result is carbon-neutral district heating and zero-emission heating for the Kiilto chemical factory in Lempäälä, Finland.
