The AmbiHeat plant enables versatile electric heat production

Alongside the AmbiHeat heat pump plant, electric boilers and thermal energy storage can be integrated as part of a modular AmbiHeat plant delivery. This enables production to be scaled according to electricity market prices and allows energy to be stored efficiently.

AmbiHeat Heat Pump Plants — from Industry to Energy Utilities

Heat pump plants are an excellent choice for accelerating the green transition in energy production, whether for industrial processes or utility companies. The AmbiHeat heat pump plant has provided solutions for diverse needs across Finland.

90°C Heat Refined from Wastewater, Delivered Directly into the District Heating Network

The AmbiHeat heat pump plant, with a capacity of 5 MW, was delivered to Finnish energy company Lahti Energia. It consists of three modules that were assembled on-site into a unified facility. The installation includes seven heat pumps, integrated systems for wastewater treatment and heat recovery, and a centralized electrical automation unit.

Orion Utilizes AmbiHeat for Both Cooling and Heating

Traditional Finnish Pharmaceutical Company Orion uses the AmbiHeat heat pump plant for both cooling and heating at its local facilities in Turku and Espoo. The Turku installation has received European-level recognition for its carbon-neutral performance.

Chemical Industry Company Kiilto Relies on AmbiHeat for Process Cooling

At the Lempäälä facility of Kiilto — a traditional Finnish family-owned company — the AmbiHeat heat pump plant is used for process cooling in adhesive manufacturing. It also upgrades waste heat for use both within the factory area and in the district heating network operated by the local energy company, Lempäälän Lämpö.

Heat Pump Plants Enable the Green Transition

What: Calefa’s heat pump plants, with capacities up to 30 MW, enable efficient energy production for utility companies and industrial operations. In addition to heating, the system can also provide cooling and utilize waste energy for heat generation.

Where From: Heat pump plants can harness multiple types of heat sources. AmbiHeat systems have previously utilized industrial waste heat, thermal energy from wastewater and natural water bodies, as well as excess heat from various cooling processes.

Where To: The AmbiHeat heat pump plant can be installed based on the location of the heat source and the energy demand. Its modular design allows for easy placement either in a separate building or integrated into an existing facility—and it can even be landscaped to fit seamlessly into urban environments.

Capture Waste Heat — 5 Ways to Utilize a Heat Pump Facility

  1. Do your operations generate waste heat that could be repurposed for heating? Industrial cooling processes and flue gas scrubbers used in heat production are examples of where heat pumps can be effectively utilized.

  2. Are there nearby operators whose waste heat could be upgraded into district heating using a heat pump facility? For instance, municipal wastewater treatment plants offer a significant resource for heat production.

  3. Do you need efficient and reliable cooling? A heat pump facility can provide carbon-neutral cooling even for critical industrial processes, such as pharmaceutical manufacturing or aluminum production.

  4. Would you like to increase carbon-neutral heating capacity, for example, in a district heating network? Heat pump facilities can produce emission-free heat at temperatures up to 90°C.

  5. Does your industrial process generate more waste heat than you need? Sell and upgrade the surplus heat with a heat pump facility to a local energy provider.
